Get an EyeCream Girl!!! My search for a cheap and healthy eye cream

One time, I was staring at the mirror and pinching out some whiteheads on my nose when I noticed an ugly short line under my eye. It was so ugly, it made me panic! That afternoon, I told my friends about it and swear that I am going to buy an eye cream.

I had a good eye cream before from Mary Kay but I ran out of it and couldn't get one immediately. So for 2 years, I do not have something hydrating for my eyes. I am really bad when it comes to skin care.

So the hunt happened last Friday night. I went to Sephora in Ngee Ann City Mall and checked out different brands. I was so shocked to find out the prices of their eye creams, serums or gels. A guy who was working in Sephora came up to me and introduced me to Philosophy's Miracle Worker eye serum it was for 80 dollars! I bet the product really works and is super effective. I tried it on my hand and it smoothens my hand immediately. I loved the immediate effect! It has retinoid as well and the guy said it was the key ingredient for eye products. But the thing was, I am not ready to shed 80 dollars from my pocket. I set a budget and I was really in a hunt to find the cheapest eye cream.

So I went out of Sephora and down to B2 and found FANCL. The place was intimidating to me because it was all white and I thought prices will be more exaggerated than those in Sephora. But I still went in and immediately checked the products and their price.. DING, ding, ding, ding, ding!!! It was right on the bucket!

Then the nicest lady came up and asked me what I'm looking for. I told her I need an eye cream and then she let me try their FANCL RESTEYE GEL and the rest was history. I'd like to show you photos of my purchase while I tell you the story behind them.

In this paper bag lies the goodies.

For 30 SGD this is what I get!

This was my main purchase for 30 SGD.

So this is the product, their Resteye Gel. The box says that this item is a refreshing eye gel that targets and improves problems such as dark circles, puffiness, dryness and fine lines. It aids in improving blood circulation thus, reducing the appearance of unsightly dark circles and puffiness. It does not have that retinoid when I read the ingredients but this product is absolutely preservatives free. This product actually should be used for 60 days only. So that circle thing on the picture, must be stick to the product to remind me of the expiration.
I have been using it 4 times and the product was ok. My eyes were not irritated or whatsoever. I know that my eyes are having the hydration they need and I am happy about that. I will continue to use it and tell you more about its effect.

So I also took a screen shot of my skin condition. The lady from FANCL run a quick test under my eye and this is what my skin looks like in a bigger scale. The picture on top shows that my skin is really dry because of the lines. They are all one way when it should not be like that. The one below shows the discoloration. When I saw this, I was like, "Uggghh! Yuck!" But of course, I didn't voiced it out. But it really alarmed me. I do hope this product could help my skin.

So when I paid my purchased, I asked the lady if they have like mini packets of other products that I could try. (I'm really a sucker for freebies) Surprisingly, I got more than that. I got to be a member of FANCL and the lady gave me monthly treat and rebate! How cool was that and she gave me lots of products to try.

This is their Moisturizing Line which I am excited to try. I got the lotion, essence and emulsion. So after I clean my face I could use these three items in that order.

I got a notepad which is super cute and this FANCL Beauty Facial Treatment. I need to use this product in one sitting. I need to empty the bottle and massage the content on my face for 5 minutes and then rinse it. Looking forward to use it.

I was really beaming with smile when I got out of the store. I was so happy with my purchase and the nice lady even gave me the longest bow as I left their store. She is really super duper nice and accommodating. I am sad not to remember her name but she was really awesome.

So what's the big fuss over an eye cream? Personally, I think we really need to care for our face especially the eyes because our eyes show the life inside of us. Our eyes give away the condition of our lives and our age. Through our eyes people will see if we are happy or stressed out or dull.

That is why I encourage you guys to get an eye cream. It is never too early or too late to start using it. Care for your eyes and people will see what a beautiful life is.

PS: When buying beauty products, do not be shy to ask for some other products that you can try at home. You might found one that you will really like and will work for you.  :D Please do leave a comment or reactions below. Thanks for reading!

Me Love Me Some Taylor Swift! Talyor Swift-Inspired Make-up

I went crazy again today and decided to put on some make-up. Today, I'm feeling 22 like Taylor Swift. I downloaded a photo of her and tried to copy her make-up. Here's what I came up with. Enjoy! :D

I know, I know I looked funny! Hahaha.. Even I can laugh so hard looking at this. But hey, I think, I did a pretty good job on my make-up! Lol! Honestly, the hardest part of it is channelling her look. I cannot interpret her look in these photos. I cannot do her lips pose. I need to practice. Lol! Another thing, I need to have my bangs trimmed. It's too looong and I had a hard time covering my forehead.

After too many trials and too many photos taken with the same pose, with my iTouch camera and our Nikon DSLR combined, I feel my neck stiffened. I literally cursed and thought about Taylor Swift. I bet she's already a pro. Duh! Of course she is! :D

This is a close-up shot of my make-up. What really makes this make-up are my red lips. Red lips can simply make you stand out! :D

I really liked Taylor Swift make-up because it is really light on the eyes. I didn't have to put extra effort on eye shadows. All I need to use is an eyeliner to shape my eyes and then I did the wing-tip style. For best results, use liquid eyeliner. Her hairstyle on the photo is simple as well. As you can see, my eye brows were not emphasized it's because the hairstyle allows me to hide them. So if you have like scars on the forehead like I do, pimples or blackheads, the bangs hairstyle can help you to hide them.

When I had enough feeling like Taylor Swift, I decided to make a simple hairstyle that can pump up a simple pony tail to a tasselled semi-up do.

Here is the look from the back.

I liked this hairstyle a lot because it keeps your hair away from the neck and it gives a more romantic look than a usual pony tail.

I hope you guys like my 1st try on a Taylor Swift look. Please tell me if it's a hit or a miss. Share your comments and suggestions below. Thanks! :D

Hair style and make-up haul. New products!!!

I was so excited to get my salary last end of July because, ahhmmm... we all know what is bound to happen... SHOPPING!!! YAY! Lol!

Yep, once again, I wasn't able to help myself. I just can't resist it! I mean, Who can?!!! Anyway, I told myself that this shopping was intended to help me further with my goal to be a beauty guru.

I tried my best to stick to my limits. In shopping, since I am just starting, I must find the cheapest deals and I must only buy the things that I need not the things that I want. CHOS!

Below is Herlene's newest beauty arsenal! :D

Let us start with the hair. I was so happy to see this Vidal Sassoon Ceramic Hair Straightener because I bought it for only $35.00 sgd. However, I bought this because I thought I could use it as a curler too. But, I was wrong. I still couldn't curl my hair with this. Maybe I need more practice.

This Lucido-L Airy Curls is to be used before curling with heat. I got this for less than $10 dollars. I like this product a lot because it protects the hair from heat and it makes styling easier.

This Lucido-L Hair Spray Super Hard set the hair after styling. It gives a clean, neat finish with no stiffness. I used this product when I did "Punk Thursday". I got this for $10 dollars as well.

This is my Basicare Tail Comb. I got this without even reading that this comb is anti-static that makes it perfect for styling. I used it to tease my hair and it simply makes wonders! Love it!

Of course, I need bobby pins and elastics! I must say, I was kind of surprise that they are a bit pricey. I didn't think that each pack could cost me $3 dollars. So, I am going to be really careful using these black stuff.

This is the product that I like the most. It is the Ginvera Olive Oil Hair Cream. It's less than $3 dollars and it makes my hair easier to style. It's like giving my hair the stickiness but in a dry way. I don't know how to explain it but it just really had a nice hold of my hair.

For make-up, I got this Catrice Sun Glow Bronzing Powder. I planned to use this for contouring. I am not a fan of this make-up yet. I haven't really seen its glowing effect. Still on trial mode for this.

Lastly, I got myself an eye primer. It Etude House's Proof 10 Eye Primer. Still not a fan of this product. I have only used this once. Let me try it some more and I will update you guys if this product is worth $11 dollars.

So my purchases had hits and missed. I know I will be trying and buying some more stuff. I guess if I really want to learn and if I am really passionate about something, I won't think about the expenses and just focus on what I am getting from it.

A day in the life of an HMUA: Pre-nup/Bridal Make-Up: Eni Penny Bridal Baby! :D

My dear friend Eni asked me a special favour to be her make-up artist on a photo shoot that will happen very soon. Of course, I knew what this photo shoot is for. So without even thinking it, I said YES!, straight away.

Although the photo shoot is going to be on a small scale, I will take this task as professional as I can. So I quickly schedule a mock make-up session with my friend to make myself familiar with the expectations on that day. The following photos are the ones I took during our "Singlehood" photo shoot. Enjoy! :D

This is my friend Eni. She's really a simple girl and she doesn't wear make up at all, not even foundation on a daily basis. I got this photo from her FB because I wasn't able to get a "before" look.

This is the make-up that I did for her, the "after" look. Simple eye shadow colour to make her eyes look livelier and not too dark red lips. I did a semi side-swept curly hair-do.
According to frmheadtotoe of YouTube, for wedding make-up, we may want our make up to be a notch higher than what we normally put on as the light and camera flashes can easily wash away the colours. I think we did a wonderful job for her make-up.

This is one of my favourite photos, I have never seen my friend looking so seductive. Lol! :D

This is also a hit. A lot of her friends in FB liked this photo.

Sweetest smile

Special thanks to Ruby, the MOH. She was really helpful during this shoot and very supportive and efficient.

Eni dearie, I am so looking forward for your pre-nup photo shoot with your husband-to-be here in SG. I want you to have a good time and feel good about this whole journey. I know you may be a bit conscious but this is your time girl! I want you to cherish every moment. We all love you and we are very happy for you. I'll see you very soon sweetie! :D

A day in the life of an HMUA: Birthday Make-Up! Happy Birthday Beverly

August 3rd... My friend Beverly threw a party for her birthday and I knew that this is the perfect time for me to practice what I have been learning from all the beauty gurus on YouTube. I promised my friend that I will do her make-up and hair for her party. She wasn't reluctant and that made me very happy.

This is her "before" look.

This now is the "after" look. So after I scrutinized this photo, I found my mistake. I wasn't able to nicely conceal her eye bags. Lesson learned, the next time I do make-up, I must make sure to make an effort and check the eye bags. :)

In spite of the mistake, I am so happy that my friend, loves what I did for her. She also loves this blouse that I gave her. So I was not only her HMUA but her stylist as well..and photographer!

These are the photos I was able to take during her party. Enjoy! :D

 with her friend Aubrey

Yours truly and the birthday girl

She prepared a lot of food for us.

Make a wish and blow your candles.

 with her friend, Shane

 with her man, Ferdz

She loves to sing and she's very good at it!

 Paula and Max

the lovebirds

Seeing her smile like this is the best reward for everything! :D

I super enjoyed her party and I super enjoyed being her HMUA, stylist and photographer. I was so happy knowing that she likes what I did and so is her friends. I heard lots of compliments and admiration from them. I'd do it again next year if she asks me! Happy Birthday Bevz and God bless.
